Small by comparison to it's closest neighbour Australia (about 1,500 miles to the northwest), sub-tropical New Zealand is actually a fairly large country made up of two major islands surrounded by the South Pacific Ocean to the east and the Tasman Sea to the west. NZ has about the same land mass as Great Britain or about 2/3 that of California.

Anglers from all over the world come to New Zealand to try their luck and land a double-figure trout. Many notable dignitaries have fished this area of New Zealand over the years including Zane Grey, The Queen Mother and US President Jimmy Carter. During high season it's quite common to recognise film stars and business leaders working their way through a pool just like everyone else.

The Bay of Plenty has some of the most popular fishing spots in all of New Zealand. Depending on the location and time of year you will find rainbow trout, brown trout and steelhead trout in abundance. Don’t forget, our professional fishing guides guarantee you will catch a fish! Here is a list of some of the best fly fishing lakes:

Lake Rotorua

Lake Rotiti

Lake Tarawera

Lake Taupo

There are many other good places; lakes, crystal clear rivers and streams to fish around the whole Rotorua region and our professional fishing guides know them all!

Our tradition is that of the first man who sneaked away to the creek when the tribe did not really need fish.
